"CLASH OF CULTURES, SPACE BETWEEN DUALITY"
SPACE BETWEEN DUALITY PROJECT
Ceramic book, monster mask and ceramic beads.
Clash of cultures the space between duality:
The left side is a visual representation of a window or a door in the Arab world.
In calligraphy the word encompasses all.
The right side which is engraved with words and it’s dualistic nature like dark, light complementary words. It also has the Jalandhara or kirtimukha face. This masked monster that reappeared and clashed in many cultures.
The monster of greed assumes great power in any desire. the monster is a cautionary against rapacity and indulgence. He was created for the purpose to devour Rahu. Rahu is the lunar north node or number 4 in the study of numbers. Although Rahu repentance was accepted, the monster mask was so hungry when he couldn’t devour his prey Rahu. The monster mask ended up devouring its own body and leaving the head. After which he became a symbol of the face of glory and for eternity, he is a guardian to the threshold door.
For me it represents the curse of all time of the head being severed from the body leaving the person in the perpetual double wheel of duality. Having studied about monster mask I learned to find free will in between these perpetually spinning double wheels…The space between duality. I am not my forever flowing unique and perpetually created thoughts, but what I resonate with.
